The National Poetry Slam is coming to Chicago August 13-18, 2018!
Who says you can’t go home again? In August of 2018, the National Poetry Slam — the Super Bowl of performance poetry — will make a triumphant return to the city that birthed it. Hundreds of the continent’s highest-ranked slammers will descend on the Windy City to perform their original work in hopes of taking home the title of National Poetry Slam Champion.
Each year, an average of 10,000 people pour into venues in a selected city to witness more than 80 teams of the country’s most diverse and talented performance poets going head-to-head in this lyrical battle.
Preliminary bouts will kick off August 14th and run every day through August 18th at bars, theaters, and music venues along the Blue Line around this great city.
NPS 2018 is hosted and coordinated by Chicago Slam Works. J.W. Basilo serves as Host City Director.
